ArtCards® are hand drawn trading cards of artists, entertainers, and performers. Half the cards depict work by Leavitt, sole illustrator and designer of ArtCards®. Originally conceived to organize evaluate past and future inspirations, Leavitt intended the cards to be used as his personal system of decision making. Leavitt’s past works are represented, including his ideas for future pieces yet to be completed (’Concept Only’ cards). Each are drawn in illustration marker at standard trading card size: 2.5 in. x 3.5 in. 180 different cards are organized into 4 complete Series of 45 cards each. Series 1 are the first cards, Series 4 the newest, all done within a year’s span between 2001 and 2002. Each of the 4 sets are an eclectic assortment of works with no theme distinct to each set. The only real difference between the sets is a general progression of the drawing styles and graphic layout. Every ArtCard® is an artist-proff laser-printed on heavy cardstock, each limited to roughly 50 prints per card, with Leavitt printing and cuytting every card himself. They’re for sale here as wrapped packs of 7 cards, each sealed with a stick of stale bubble gum, just the way it used to be.
